Allied Bakeries adds new link to its supply chain with new hire

15 August 2011

Allied Bakeries, owner of market leading bread brands Kingsmill, Allinson, Burgen and Sunblest, today announces a new appointment to further strengthen its supply chain offering to retailers.

Jacquie Cahill will join Allied Bakeries on 1st September as Supply Chain Director and will be responsible for overseeing logistics operations, reporting into company CEO Mark Fairweather. Jacquie will work across a wide range of projects, including Project Athena, an investment initiative launched earlier this year, which aims to improve business performance by delivering unrivalled customer service.

Jacquie comments: "Allied Bakeries is paving the way for the bakery industry through its continued investment in people, infrastructure and its brands. There couldn't be a better time for me to join this dynamic and innovative company and I look forward to leading a team that I know to have a proven track record in delivering excellent results."

The appointment sees a return to the bakery industry for Jacquie, who previously worked at Allied Bakeries as Supply Chain Development Manager between May 2005 and September 2007, before leaving to take on the role of Global Supply Director at pharmaceutical giant, AstraZeneca.

Jacquie replaces Paul Longley, who will be retiring from Allied Bakeries after 37 years of service at the end of September. During his time with the company, Paul contributed to positioning Allied Bakeries as a business that consistently delivers world class service to major retailers, convenience stores, food service outlets and the wholesale sector. He leaves the logistics team with the skills to deliver unrivalled service levels that set Allied Bakeries apart from the competition.
