Allied Bakeries has today announced that top
ten grocery brand Kingsmill is to be an official partner of The Big
Lunch taking place in 2012. In 2012, a special Big Lunch will be
held on Sunday 3rd June to mark The Queen's Diamond Jubilee called
The Big Jubilee Lunch.
The Big Lunch aims to get as many people in the UK as possible to
have lunch with their neighbours on one day. In 2012, The Big
Jubilee Lunch is part of the programme coordinated by Buckingham
Palace for The Queen's Diamond Jubilee, celebrating 60 years of her
reign. There is a programme of events taking place over the 4
day bank holiday weekend, Saturday 2nd to Tuesday 5th June 2012
(with two Bank Holidays), and The Big Jubilee Lunch takes place on
the Sunday, 3rd June 2012.
Guy Shepherd, Category Director, Allied Bakeries said: "We are
delighted to be involved with The Big Lunch. Supporting The
Big Lunch is a natural fit for Kingsmill as lunch is what we
do. With our wide range of bakery products from healthier
whites, to wholemeal and seeded - we've got lunch tastes covered
for the whole community."
As well as being involved in promoting the event with a PR
campaign, Kingsmill will carry an on-pack promotion across the line
from March 2012.
Tim Smit,
Chief Executive (and co-founder) of the Eden Project
said:
"We are pleased to have Kingsmill joining us as a partner of the
fourth annual Big Lunch event in 2012, The Big Jubilee Lunch. The
Big Lunch is such a simple idea, but brings together the key
ingredients for building stronger communities - neighbours,
friendship and food."
The Big Lunch, an idea from the Eden Project, aims to get as many
people in the UK as possible to have lunch with their neighbours on
one day. Since starting in 2009, thousands of Big Lunches
have taken place in all kinds of communities. In June 2011, more
than a million people took part in the biggest Big Lunch yet. A
record number of people are expected to have taken part in The Big
Jubilee Lunch on Sunday 3rd June 2012.
Kingsmill will be an official partner of next year's Big Lunch
alongside the Big Lottery Fund and MasterCard.
