Allied Bakeries attain Caravan’s Gold Achievement Award

23 November 2011

The Caravan Achievement Awards programme is delighted to announce that Allied Bakeries has been recognised with the prestigious accolade of a Gold Achievement Award for the first time.

The Gold award recognises the strong contribution Allied Bakeries has made in supporting Caravan's national events, in particular as sponsors of the Annual Diamond Ball and the participation of eight riders in the 2010 London to Paris Cycle Challenge. In addition, the company supports Caravan's central committees and regional branches, in particular the Northern Ireland, North East and Thames Valley branches. Allied Bakeries also contributes to raising awareness of the charity with its promotion of its achievements at the Windermere Row within internal news channels and local newspapers.

The Achievement Awards are designed to bring recognition and thanks to all companies that support the charity. This year's awards have really shown how support can come in many different forms.

2011 has continued to be a challenging year for everyone within the UK grocery industry, yet despite the undoubtedly difficult times, Caravan has seen businesses across the industry pull together to drive their fundraising activities and offer support in every possible capacity.

Gillian Barker, Caravan Director General comments "I'd like to personally thank everyone within Allied Bakeries who has helped support Caravan this year. Caravan has a stated aim of providing aid and assistance to those in need who have been involved in any way with the grocery business in the UK. Your efforts these past twelve months have enabled us to spend a record-breaking £2.1M on welfare provision."
